FAQs

Do you accept insurance?

We do not file insurance. However, you can submit your receipts for “out of network” coverage on your own and your insurance company may be able to reimburse you.

Is Functional Medicine about taking supplements?

Functional Medicine is about finding the root cause of disease. In our modern world with high stress, daily exposure to toxins and poor quality foods, we are not getting the basic nutrients that our bodies and brains need. Often the root cause of disease is lack of critical nutrients, which can be reversed with the right amount of the right nutrient in the right form.

Does Functional Medicine always recommend diets?

It is not about diets, it is about a healthy lifestyle.

Certainly, the Standard American Diet (SAD), full of processed foods, sugar, unhealthy fats and preservatives is not healthy. Eating healthy, organic, Non-GMO, unprocessed food is important to good health. But it is also important to eat the right food for your body. For example, some people are sensitive to gluten (a wheat protein) or caseine (a milk protein) and these should be avoided to optimize one’s health.  Some people that have an unhealthy intestinal system can develop sensitivities to food they eat frequently.
