Functional
Medicine
Functional Medicine is science-based and looks for the “root cause” of disease.
It examines the complex web of interactions in the patient’s history, physiology, and lifestyle that can lead to illness. The unique genetic makeup of each patient is considered, along with both internal (mind, body, and spirit) and external (physical and social environment) factors that affect total functioning.
After a thorough exam that often involves lab work, a Wellness Plan for prevention and healing is prescribed.
This Wellness Plan is a personalized road map to not only address current ailments, but to delay, lessen or altogether prevent the onset of chronic conditions.
This plan may include:
nutrition, therapeutic diet, and exercise
prescribed combinations of pharmaceutical drugs and/or botanical medicines
supplements
detoxification programs
stress-management techniques
Follow-up appointments can track progress and fine-tune approach based on your body's responses.
